Tuesday, April 4 updates:
11: 28 p.m. update: Race for key Wisconsin state Senate seat too early to call
By Todd Richmond, Associated Press
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The outcome of the race for an open Wisconsin state Senate seat that’s been under Republican control for decades is too early to call, with only a few hundred votes separating the candidates in a contest that could put the GOP a step closer to being able to override Gov. Tony Evers’ vetoes or even impeach him. Republican Rep. Dan Knodl held a narrow lead over Democratic attorney Jodi Habush Sinykin. The Associated Press will continue to track the vote count and consider declaring a winner as election officials confirm they have completed their tabulation of all outstanding ballots. The outcome could determine whether the GOP inches closer to a supermajority that could override Gov. Tony Evers’ vetoes.
10:49 p.m. update: Jodi Habush Sinykin addresses her supporters, stating it is too close to call and folks should head home for the night. She is running against Dan Knodl (R) for a District 8 State Senate seat.

Half the vote in for Waukesha Co. still early.
If this trend holds that would be a big percentage number for Protasiewicz- Kelly needs to be at least mid 60’s. Justice Hagedorn carried the county with 68% for his narrow win in 2019 pic.twitter.com/D026ESFVSU
8:29 p.m. update:
— Steve Chamraz (@TMJ4Steve) April 5, 2023:: Still very early, but some things to watch:
Half of Waukesha is in… and @janetforjustice has 41%. She’s running +10 over Lisa Neubauer in 2019.
Janet is +7 over 2019 in Milwaukee County with half in.

Scott Bauer, Associated Press
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Polls have closed in Wisconsin as voters are deciding the outcome of the most expensive judicial race in U.S. history, in a heated contest that will likely determine the fate of abortion access. The future of Republican-drawn legislative maps, voting rights and years of other Republican policies also hang in the balance in Tuesday's election. The Wisconsin Supreme Court has been under conservative control for 15 years. It came within one vote of overturning President Joe Biden’s narrow win in 2020. Democratic-backed candidate Janet Protasiewicz faces Republican-backed Dan Kelly in the officially nonpartisan race that has broken down along partisan lines.
